Assemblyman Chuck DeVore Hosts Illegal Immigration Taskforce

WHAT: Assemblyman DeVore (R-Irvine) will lead an informational
hearing open to the public on illegal immigration as a
part of the Republican Taskforce on Illegal Immigration
(Taskforce). Several illegal immigration experts,
representing various facets of the illegal immigration
debate, will present testimony before a panel of
legislators.

Following the testimony, suggestions from the public will
be read aloud and may be considered as possible
legislation for next year.

Scheduled Hearing Participants:

Dr. John C. Eastman is the Henry Salvatori Professor of Law & Community Service at Chapman University School of Law, specializing in Constitutional Law and Legal History.

The Honorable Alan Mansoor is the Mayor of Costa Mesa. In 2005, he and his colleagues on the City Council voted to go forward with entering into an agreement with Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enforce federal immigration laws locally.

The Honorable Pat Bates is a Former Assemblywoman and the Community Liaison for Assemblywoman Mimi Walters. Bates is Chairwoman of the South County Working Group for Immigration Reform.

Mr. Galel Fajardo is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Honduras. He is an expert in information systems technology.

The Honorable Robert Ming sits on the Laguna Niguel City Council. He is the Chairman of a coalition of regional chambers working to address the business issues surrounding the illegal immigration issue. Ming was also the author of the Voter ID Initiative on last year’s statewide ballot.

Mr. William Doddridge owns a large retail chain and recently began performing instant checks of his new hires’ Social Security and I-9 documents.

Mr. Tony Dolz is a foreign-born Hispanic legal immigrant who attained naturalized citizenship through the legal process. Dolz is also a founding member of the Minutemen Project.
